Over 5 000 people responded to District 3 Mayor’s Office’s invitation on Saturday night and participated to a colourful and joyful performance in the Titan Park. The event “Multicultural soul in District 3” wanted to promote among the young people ideas like friendship, tolerance, equality and access to culture.
The promoter of the concept and of the entire event “Multicultural soul in District 3” was Damian Drăghici, a complex personality of the current musical and artistic world. Next to him, young and talented musicians, performers and instrumentalist were invited to the cultural event, as well as established names of the Romanian musical scene: Puya, Delia Matache, Mandinga, Claudia Pavel, Gabriel Cotabiță, Sensor, the Romano Butiq band and the Damian & Brothers orchestra.
To end the show, children from disadvantaged areas who take classes at the Alternative Education Club (School no. 136) were invited on stage to perform next to Damian Drăghici and his guests. The artist is a well known advocate for helping talented children who don’t have the financial resources to develop their musical aptitudes.
The eight children who went on stage showed the audience that their talent, supported by an appropriate education, can become their chance for a better life and for changing the environment they come from. The children were selected by the Bright Light Foundation and by Policy Center for Roma and Minorities.
The project „Multicultural soul in District 3” was presented and organized by District 3 Mayor’s Office. It was an original concept belonging to the Bright Light Foundation, under the European Year for Volunteering 2011.
