Debate House teachers are taking place in a second professional development workshop this Saturday, March 10. The workshop focuses on two main themes: debate and public speaking (first part) and feedback and evaluation in education (second part). The sessions are led by experienced facilitators (two members of the ARDOR team and teacher Roxana Marin), who will engage the teachers in discussion and interactive, hands-on activities.
Two other teacher training workshops (on access to education and global education) will take place in March. Between April and the end of the school year, the teachers will bring their students to Debate House through classroom discussion on topics selected from among the central themes of the project. In collaboration with project partner One World Film Clubs, Policy Center for Roma and Minorities will also organize documentary film screenings followed by discussions moderated by special guests during the spring and summer.
The Debate House project promotes multiculturalism, active citizenship, human rights and minority rights in Romania by involving middle and secondary school teachers and students in a series of seminars and debates during the 2011-2012 academic year. Now in its third year, the project is financed by the Soros Foundation, Romania.
