PRESS RELEASE BY THE EMBASSY OF THE KINGDOM OF THE NETHERLANDS
THE DUTCH EMBASSY AND ROMANIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION – together in a Pro-Tolerance Campaign: 15 children from Ferentari will receive tickets to the football game Romania-The Netherlands
The Dutch Ambasador, Matthijs van Bonzel, and former National-team players, Miodrag Belodedici and Daniel Prodan will participate at this event
Romania and the Netherlands – two great football loving countries – are playing on Tuesday for the World Football Championship, and the Netherlands Embassy would like to use this big opportunity to promote to people, and especially our youths, to be tolerant with each other and to learn to achieve their aspirations through sports. The Netherlands believe that sport is not only about competition but mainly about fairness and mutual respect. Therefore, it represents one of the best ways for promoting tolerance and combating discrimination. Tuesday we have the chance instead of fighting for it, to play for it.
The Netherlands Embassy was happy to support the Policy Centre for Roma and Minorities’ initiative of creating the Alternative Education Club in a school in the Ferentari neighbourhood of Bucharest. The Alternative Education Club is helping vulnerable children, living in difficult conditions, to overcome their problems through education and sports. The initiative proved to be a great success and won this year’s UNICEF Sport for Education Beyond Sport Award. We were proud of the Policy Centre for Roma and Minorities achievement and we hope to see more such initiatives being taken countrywide.
For this occasion Dutch ambassador M. van Bonzel, RFF representatives Daniel Prodan and Miodrag Belodedici together with representatives of the Policy Centre for Roma and Minorties’ are inviting 15 children living in Ferentari area to visit the embassy and invite them to the football match. We would like to welcome the press to attend the get together on Tuesday, at 14.00 hrs at the Netherlands Embassy, Aleea Alexandru 20.
