A new Read with Me event took place in the kindergarten and primary school of Stejarisu, Sibiu county. The event had as guest the well-known singer and actor Mr. Ioan Gyuri-Pascu, who read for and together with the 40 children of Stejarisu, the stories of Apolodor , the famous penguin. The event was organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Austria, through the Social Attaché Office. The office also started a successful community development project in the area at the Iacobeni Primary School.
The Read with Me campaign continued at School no. 96, in Bucharest on May 18th. The school’s former student, actor and TV presenter Mr. Cabral Ibacka joined the event together with Ms. Andreea Marin-Bănică. Our guests visited 12 primary education classes and almost 200 children read along with them from La Fontaine, Grigore Alexandrescu and Jules Verne. Supported by the U.S. Embassy and the mayoralty, our organization made a donation to the school, through the form of books.
Several public figures and supporters of the campaign also joined the event: Oana Badea – State Secretary within the Ministry of Education, Oana Marinescu – General Director for Public Diplomacy at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Stephen Ruken – Political Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, Csaba Asztalos – President of the National Council against Discrimination (CNCD), Dora Mărgărit – counselor at CNCD and Nadia Tătaru- General Director at Itsy Bitsy Radio Station. Local authorities were also present at the event through representatives from the school inspectorate and the mayoralty.
