More than 30 representatives of embassies, Romanian Government, presidential administration, NGOs and academia participated on Monday, April 11th, at the “Multiculturalism in Europe” debate, organized by Policy Center for Roma and Minorities together with the Department for European Affairs of the Romanian Government. The event took place at the Infoeuropa Center in Bucharest.

EU shuts Roma froups out of policy-making process

Leading Roma organizations lashed out at the European Commission for failing to include Roma voices and input in the development of its new “EU framework for national Roma integration strategies up to 2020.” The groups complain that the new strategy for Roma integration, which was released this week by the executive arm of the European Union, misses an important opportunity to address the rising tide of anti-Gypsyism in Europe.

ERPC: EU Roma Framework weak on discrimination against Roma

The European Roma Policy Coalition (ERPC) acknowledges the European Commission’s political commitment to Roma inclusion expressed today by the adoption of its EU Framework for National Roma Integration Strategies. The Commission s request to all Member States to develop and implement dedicated long-term strategies to promote Roma integration in four key areas ‒ access to education, healthcare, employment and housing and essential services ‒ and to allocate sufficient targeted resources to achieve progress, is a significant step forward.
