Love Football! No Racism! No Violence!

October 7, 2012

Steaua Bucharest – CFR Cluj game in the Romanian national league started with an action against racism and violence in the Romanian stadiums. This follows a series of racist incidents during the month of September that lead to unprecedented measures taken by both UEFA and Romanian Football Federation to combat racism and especially anti-Gypsyism in the Romanian football.

Players of both teams and referees with the banner of our campaign- European Commission, UEFA and Romanian Football Federation were among our partners

All players wore at the beginning of the game T-shirts United Against Racism –a short video can be seen here

This follows a day of play under the same logo – Love Football! No Racism! No Violence! – organized by Policy Center together with the Romanian Football Federation within the outdoors event ”Bridge between generations” initiated by the Romanian Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Protection. The event took place in Herastrau Park on September 29th and it involved over 250 children from disadvantaged areas.

During the entire event Miodrag Belodedici, director at the Romanian Football Federation, played with the children and sported the United Against Racism T-shirt.
